About the Seminar

It seems that changes in the packaging industry take place every month. Keeping up with advancements that could impact packaging professionals and manufacturers is important for many reasons. IMFA addresses changes in the molded fiber industry during our seminars

In April 2018, the annual IMFA International Molded Fiber Seminar, its 21st, will provide updates on Molded Fiber Technology and practices. This seminar is the only event, worldwide, with presentations dealing exclusively with subjects involving renewable molded fiber packaging, and will include speakers from the major molded fiber product manufacturers with panels of experts for Q&A sessions.

Breakout Sessions

This year there will be an opportunity to attend breakout sessions focusing on different topics during the conference. The sessions will be facilitated by a panel including topic specialists and long serving industry members. They will be moderated with an interactive Q&A.

Seminar Extras




Plan to gather with friends at a specially selected San Diego restaurant for Thursday evening’s “Dine Around.” 

On Thursday night after the Networking reception, conference attendees will have the opportunity to dine out at a local restaurant with other attendees. Sign up for this event will take place on Wednesday and Thursday at the registration table. Three (3) restaurants have been chosen. Each restaurant will have 2 tables for 6 people reserved under the IMFA name.  Attendees will be responsible for paying for their meal, any transportation costs and gratuity.

Restaurant Choices Include:
Tom Ham's Lighthouse Restaurant:  A 15 minute walk (.9 miles) from the hotel, Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is one of San Diego’s best seafood restaurants, opened for business in 1971. An actual functioning lighthouse, known as Beacon #9 on any USCG Nautical Map, was incorporated into the design. The result is one of San Diego’s best known architectural landmarks. Besides the Lighthouse, Tom Ham’s is also famous for its eye-catching vistas of the San Diego Bay, Coronado Bridge and San Diego. $$- $$$   Reservation is for 7:00 pm

Coasterra Restaurant: Modern Mexican Latin Fusion, with plenty of seafood. This bayside restaurant has an eclectic menu with many fresh options and is walkable (.6 miles) from the hotel.  Vegetarian friendly. Vegan options. Gluten-free options. $$ -$$$   Reservation is for 7:15 pm

Seasons 52 @ Seaport Village: Located in the quaint shopping and entertainment district of Seaport village (about 2.7 miles from the Sheraton) Seasons 52 is a fresh grill and wine bar that offers a seasonally changing menu inspired by the appeal of the local farmer’s market.  The menu is wide and features rustic cooking techniques like brick-oven roasting and open-fire grilling over oak and mesquite wood to bring out natural flavors of food.  $$ - $$$ Reservation is for 7:30 pm

Cancellation Policy

Full refunds for the seminar will be made for cancellations received up to 60 days prior to any International Molded Fiber Association event. A half refund will be given for a cancellation made 30 days prior to the event. No refunds will be given for any reason if notice is not received at Alan@IMFA.org by April 12, 2018. A $150 (US) cancellation fee will be charged for all cancelled reservations. No refunds will be made for cancellations received on or after this date. A registrant may designate an alternate attendee at any time by phoning (212) 297-2128.
